DESCRIPTION:India\, a land of diverse terrain\, ranging from the rocky faces of the Himalayas to the forested slopes of the Sahyadris and the Western Ghats\, offers gruelling and challenging race routes. \n \nWith the Deccan Ultra\, we introduce trails nestled deep within the Sahyadri Range\, offering mesmerizing views of the Deccan Plateau. The Deccan Ultra route includes the highest peak of Maharashtra\, Kalsubai at an altitude of 1646m and also the toughest triple-trouble forts in Sahyadri; Alanggad\, Madangad and Kulanggad\, commonly called the AMK.\n\nThe route is a mix of easy-ascent slopes as well as treacherous rocky outcrops overlooking the valley below. To climb the near-vertical slopes there are iron ladders along the course. The 115km and 80km category circulates around the Bhandardhara dam and involves climbing 5 forts and the Kalsubai peak. It requires you to climb and descend technical sections. As this race\, organized by Grand Indian Trails\, does not require a medical certificate\, participants are asked to please understand and accept the risks of accidents that can be caused by the race. To be able to enjoy the race\, it is recommended for participants to practice regularly.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe participants must meet the following criteria:\n\nYou must be 18 years of age or older before Feb 10\, 2024 to take part in 161K\, 115K\, 80K\, 55K\, 30K and 12 years of age or older to take part in 3K & 13K Kalsubai Challenge.\nFor registering for 35K\, one must have completed a Half Marathon in 02:30Hrs.\nFor registering for 55K\, one must have completed a Full Marathon in 05:00Hrs or any Ultra Marathon within the cut-off time prescribed by the organisers of the race. For 12hr runs like stadium runs\, one must have atleast run 50kms.\nFor registering for the 80K\, one must have completed an Ultra marathon (atleast 60KMs) with a minimum elevation gain of 1000m within the cut-off specified by the organisers of that race.\nFor registering for the 115K & 161K\, one must have completed an Ultra marathon (atleast 100KMs) with a minimum elevation gain of 3000m within the cut-off specified by the organisers of that race.\nRaces run after 01-Jan-2023 will only be considered as a qualifying race for Deccan Ultra 2024.\nThere is no qualifying criteria for the 3K & 13K Kalsubai Challenge categories.\n\n\nCancellation & Refund Policy\n# Any cancellation before 60 days will be eligible for a 100% refund of the registration fee.\n# Any cancellation between 60-45 days will be eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fee.\n# Any cancellation between 44-30 days will be eligible for a 25% refund of the registration fee.\n# Any cancellation between 30-0 days will not be eligible for a refund under any circumstances.

It is bound by the Indian states of Maharashtra to the north\, and Karnataka to the east and south\, with the Arabian Sea in the west. The Eleventh Finance Commission of India named Goa the best-placed state because of its infrastructure\, and India’s National Commission on Population rated it as having the best quality of life in India. Goa is hub for tourist and have plenty to offer whether you are a beach lover or adventure seeker. They can decide if\, when\, and where to rest or eat and proceed.\nThe first team to complete the whole course\, with all the control points visited without any support will be declared the winner.\nTeams are required to complete the entire distance together (always within hearing and visual distance of each other)\, helping and assisting each other.\nTeamwork and team dynamics are essential. A detailed understanding of your teammates and of your own capabilities is essential and key in the race.\n\nTeam format \n\nTeams of 4 members for Full Course / Team of 2 for shorter course (60KM)\nTeams can consist of members of any combination: All Males and/or all Females\nThe official category is a premier team of 4-members with ONE FEMALE or ONE MALE (2+2 or 3+1)  who will qualify for India & Asia Rankings.\n\nRace Distance \n\nThe race will cover approximately 110 to 130+ km’s\nTop teams are expected to finish the course in 16 hours with the last team in before 24 hours (Rest excluded)\nAll teams should be able to finish the race before 12:00 PM on Sunday Afternoon 10th September 2023\nThe route scouted so far comprises 75 to 85% of mountain biking\, 15 to 20% of trail running / hiking\, and  10 to 15% of kayaking (final distances will be confirmed closer to the race date for registererd participants only.\n100% Orienteering\n\nRace Disciplines \n\nMountain biking & Hike a bike – Teams should be prepared for a range of riding including single track\, steep hills\, gravel roads\, mud roads\, hair pin bends climbs\, downhill\, tarmac roads and ofcourse hike a bike.\nTrail Running / hiking – This Will involve traveling by foot through rugged terrains\, tarmac roads\, farmlands\, mountains and valley’s etc\nKayaking – Kayaks\, paddles\, and safety jackets will be provided by race organizers\, athletes are welcome to bring their own paddles\, PFDs. These kayaks are very stable and suitable for novices (No outside kayaks will be allowed)\nOrienteering – Orienteering is an extremely important part of the race.
